New Legislation
Legislation covering Fire Safety in the U.K. is
about to go through a dramatic change. The Fire Precautions Act
1971 and the Fire
Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997 will be repealed,
along with many
other fire safety regulations embedded in other statutes, such
as that for Residential Care Homes and Licensed premises and
Hotels etc Fire certificates will be scrapped, and employers
will become
solely responsible for fire safety within their workplaces
Session Aims:
To ensure candidates are aware of the actions
to be taken in the event of a fire in the commercial and
industrial environment.
- To give candidates an understanding of additional
risks associated with work processes, locations and/or the
use of specialised
equipment if used in the environment
- To ensure candidates are able aware
of the standards relating to safety signage in the environment.
- To ensure candidates are able to complete a fire safety
inspection and audit
- To ensure candidates are able to arrange for competent
persons to carry out Workplace Fire Risk Assessments on new
or altered
premises
- To ensure candidates are able to
establish a fault rectification system in their workplace• The
management of the evacuation procedure for public and staff
in locations where
multi stage alarm systems are installed
- How to deal safely
with fire in its early stages in remote locations
- Describe the
procedure and responsibilities for the correct reporting
of all fires

One day programme 6 hours, unless delegates have
attended a Fire Awareness course in which the course will be
4 hours. |

Short test at the end of the course. |
